The Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Education Center of Philadelphia, Inc. (MCSEC) provides a full range of free adult education programs designed to strengthen literacy, expand career opportunities, and support family stability. Adults receive literacy instruction in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and practical communication skills. Free General Educational Development (GED) exam preparation classes are available, covering all exam sections, along with support for career planning, enrollment in college and trade schools, resume writing, interview preparation, and access to professional attire for job placement. The Center also prepares adults for military entrance exams such as the ASVAB and for police officer entrance exams, including support in reading comprehension, writing, math, and situational judgment. Additionally, MCSEC offers classes for parents, grandparents, and foster parents that teach them how to support their children with reading, math, and writing homework at home.
